Cambodia

After passing the Vietnamese border just a few hours ride from Ho Chi Minh City, we knew that we are in for a different ride. Cambodia is noticeably less developed than Vietnam when you look from the infrastructure perspective. But, the culture is equally or even more rich than in Vietnam, and the people are so friendly that you will feel warm around your heart every time you see these people smile at you. Cambodian people have been through some rough times during the last century, with the Khmer Rouge regime decimating its economic development and setting the country behind its neighbor, Vietnam, by a lot. Nevertheless, the natural beauty, the cultural heritage left over by the Khmer civilization, and the friendly locals will undoubtedly amaze you. Also, the urbanization level in Cambodia isn’t so high, so you will find yourself seeing more rural areas. From its busy capital Phnom Penh to Mekong lowlands spreading to ancient ruins of Khmer civilization along the shores of Tonle Sap to the still undeveloped coastline, Cambodia is well worth exploring! During our travels in Cambodia, we have concluded one thing. It is much, much more than Angkor Wat!
